The Heroes of Telemark is a movie made back in 1965 starring Kirk Douglas. The movie is about the Norwegian Heavy Water Sabotage at the Vemork Hydroelectric plan in 1943 in the town of Rjukan, Norway. The "Telemark" in the title refers to the region or rather the "prefecture" in Norway where Rjukan is located.
Due to the the inaccuracies in the movie Heroes of Telemark, Ray Mears made a documentary of the "real" event titled The Real Heroes of Telemark.
There was also another movie made in 1948 called Kampen om Tungtvannet (the fight for the heavywater).
The actual operations, codenamed "Freshman", "Grouse" and "Gunnerside" — were finally successful in sabotaging the plant in 1943 ending the fight for the heavywater, and effectively ending the Germans attempt to build a Hydrogen bomb.
The British SOE claimed later that this was the most successful operation of World War 2.
